Oregon Safe Schools & Communities Coalition (OSSCC) has released a new support document to more clearly outline the scope of existing laws and governance with regards to supporting transgender youth in our schools.
Findings from the GLSEN 2013 National School Climate Survey clearly indicated that Oregon schools were not safe for most lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) secondary school students. And yet, Oregon remains a leader in supporting our LGBT students beyond the provisions of federal law. So often, Board, volunteers, and members of OSSCC receive questions and concerns from parents and students looking for resources specific to transgender rights and provisions. In response, the following document has been created–in partnership with our colleagues at the TransActive Gender Center.
